A senior officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (Special Grade), Mr. Wijekoon has served in a wide range of senior positions across the public sector. His distinguished career includes serving as Secretary to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Director General of the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka, and Additional Secretary in several key ministries, including the Ministries of Education, Defence, Highways, Ports and Shipping, and Public Administration.
His professional experience also encompasses public-sector reforms, administration and financial management, procurement and construction, institutional development, human resource management, policy formulation and implementation. He has led and coordinated major programmes involving national institutions and has extensive experience in strengthening organizational systems and improving institutional performance.
Mr. Wijekoon holds a Master of Business Studies (MBS) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Colombo, together with professional qualifications in public administration, general management and capacity building for senior public officials.
Throughout his career, he has also contributed as a trainer, consultant and member of several boards, councils and professional committees. His extensive exposure to national and international training programmes has further strengthened his expertise in leadership, institutional development and public-sector management.
Assuming office at the Sri Lanka Foundation, Mr. Wijekoon is expected to bring his extensive public-sector experience and strategic leadership to further strengthen the Foundation’s institutional development and its contribution to national capacity building, education, training and social development.
