Social & Institutional Development Unit

Thematic area: Develop the Social and institutional competencies toward building a savvy citizen.

Rationalisation:

The strength of social institutions and the development of institutional competencies are pillars of national development. Social institutions provide the frameworks for societal stability, cohesion. and identity, while competent institutions enable effective governance, sustainable economic growth, and social equity. Together they create an environment that supports innovation, progress, and the well-being of citizens, driving national development forward.

In pursuit of the aforementioned goal, the Sri Lanka Foundation plans to establish the  Social & institutional Development  Unit to enhance the standing of the institutional ecosystem. To optimise the direction of its output, the department has conceptualised  different  programmes and projects in collaboration with relevant ministries, departments. and other private institutions. This  department intends to implement the targeted programmes, such as improved decision-making, accountability, transparency and research & development.
