Psychological Counselling Unit

Rationalisation:
Psychology and counselling contribute to national development by promoting mental health, improving education and workforce productivity, fostering social cohesion, and reducing crime. They support individual well-being, which translates into a healthier, more productive population capable of driving economic growth and sustainable development. Investing in mental health services and counselling infrastructure is therefore a critical aspect of a nation’s overall development strategy.
In pursuit of the aforementioned goal, the Sri Lanka Foundation plans to establish the Psychology & Counselling Unit, which will facilitate the creation of national value by enhancing The psychological well-being of Sri Lankan citizens. As one of the pioneers in introducing psychology and counselling programmes in Sri Lanka, the SLFI has established a strong brand equity among the targeted segments of the country’s society.
SLF- conducts psychology and counselling programmes that cater to various segments, including Interested beginners and professionals in this industry (Certificate, Diploma and Higher National Diploma Courses).
In addition the department aims to secure funding from both local and international non-governmental organisations for national-level psychology and counselling programmes.
