Professional Certificate Course on Day Care Worker

ශ්‍රි ලංකා පදනම් ආයතනය රටේ සමාජ ප්‍රගමනය උදෙසා විවිධ අධ්‍යාපන හා පුහුණු වැඩසටහන් සංවිධානය කර පවත්වා ගෙන යනු ලබන අධ්‍යාපන කේන්ද්‍රයකි.  ඒ අනූව රාජ්‍ය හා පෞද්ගලික ආයතනවලට කාලීනව අවශ්‍ය දැනුම හා පුහුණුව ලබා දීම සඳහා විවිධ අධ්‍යාපන පාඨමාලා හා පුහුණු වැඩසටහන් සංවිධානය කර පවත්වා ගෙන යනු ලබයි.

ව්‍යවහාරික අපරාධ විද්‍යාව හා අපරාධ යුක්ති ක‍්‍රමය පිළිබඳ උසස් ජාතික ඩිප්ලෝමා පාඨමාලාව 
(Higher National Diploma in Applied Criminology & Criminal Justice System) 

මෙම පාඨමාලාව වර්තමාන අපරාධ විද්‍යාව හා අපරාධ යුක්තිය පිළිබඳ ක්ෂේත‍්‍රවල සංකල්පිය   විචාරාත්මක හා ව්‍යවහාරික දැනුමක් හා කුසලතාවක් ලබා දීම සඳහා අරමුණු කොට ගෙන සැළසුම් කර ඇත.වෘත්තීය හා ප‍්‍රායෝගික වශයෙන් දැනුම හා පුහුණුව ලබා දීම සඳහා පාඨමාලාවේ අන්තර්ගත සියලූම සංකල්ප ව්‍යවහාරික වශයෙන් විග‍්‍රහ කිරීම සඳහා විෂය නිර්දේශය සකස් කොට ඇත. අපරාධ විද්‍යාව අන්තර් විෂයයක විෂයක් වශයෙන් නීතිය, සමාජ විද්‍යාව , දේශපාලන විද්‍යාව, මනෝවිද්‍යාව, අධිකරණ විද්‍යාව ආදී සමාජීය විද්‍යා විෂයයන් වලින් මෙම පාඨමාලාවේ අන්තර්ගතය පුළුල් කර ඇත.

පාඨමාලාව මොඩියුල 10 කින් සමන්විත වන අතර වසරක කාලයක් සඳහා ෙවි. සියලුම මොඩියුල හැදෑරිම අනිවාර්යය ෙවි. සෑම මොඩියුලයක් සඳහා ම පැය 30 ක දේශන කාලයක් වෙන් කර ඇති අතර ස්වාධින පර්යේෂණය සඳහා පැය 300 ක කාලයක් ලබා දේ.

Objectives 
The primary goal of drama therapy is to provide people with a safe and secure experience that encourages the full expression of their emotional voice through playful, dramatic activity. The desired outcome of drama therapy is different for each participant, but the fundamental model is designed to promote healing and growth through the use of role-playing and dramatic interactions. As a practice, drama therapy aims to do the following:

•           Improve interpersonal relationship skills
•           Integrate physical and emotional well-being
•           Achieve personal growth and self-awareness
•           Improve overall quality of life

Drama Therapy is defined by the National Association for Drama Therapy as the systematic and intentional use of drama/ theatre processes to achieve the therapeutic goals of symptom relief, emotional and physical integration, and personal growth. It is an active, experiential approach to psychotherapy that involves the use of role-playing, improvisation, psychodrama, storytelling, mask work, puppetry, and performance to facilitate personal exploration, change, and healing.

Introduction

Chess is everything: Art, Science, and Sport – Anatoly Karpov (Former World Champion). Chess is one of the fast-spreading sports in Sri Lanka.  The National Diploma in Chess Coaching course is designed to produce qualified and competent chess coaches, in order to meet the current requirements of the country in terms of chess coaching at schools, chess academies, and other educational institutes in Sri Lanka.

Outcome

Practicing as a chess coach requires knowledge in theoretical approaches, skills in coaching, teaching methods, educational psychology, child and cognitive Psychology. Thus, upon successful completion of the program the participants will be equipped with:

• Theoretical chess knowledge to coach players up to 1400 ELO rating. 
• An ability to review and evaluate the appropriateness and potential value of different approaches, models, and techniques for an effective coach and player relationship.
• A broad base of knowledge and skills in chess and with other aspects such as coaching, teaching methods, educational psychology, child and cognitive Psychology, and research will enable the participants to develop a successful career as a chess coach.   
• To reach out to school children the benefits of learning chess, such as:

Course Objective

Higher Diploma in Filmmaking 

This is an intensive 2 years Higher Diploma in Filmmaking covering areas such as  Mechanics, Aesthetics and Theory of film. It is specially designed to suit the newcomers as well as industry professionals, who aspire to become fully-fledged filmmakers and technical experts. NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN COUNSELLING - Bilingual (Sinhala/English)

Introduction 

The National Diploma in counseling is expected to provide a thorough basic knowledge in psychological counselling to become a professional in counselling and mental health sector. The diploma is specifically designed to provide the essential psychological knowledge needed to apply in the field of counselling and mental health. Thus, this will be recognized qualification to the Higher National Diploma in Counselling (HNDC) offered by SLF.

The Diploma program consists of 14 compulsory study modules that covers 30 credits. The diploma is equivalent to SLQF level 3 and NVQ level 5.

Course Content

Introduction to counselling and professional ethics, psychological and biological base for human behavior, emotions, thoughts and development, mental disorders, research, advance counselling skills needed to work with marginalized communities in the country such as victims of abuse, war, chronic illnesses and the psychosocial issues faced by LGBTQ and HIV infected community.

Course Structure

The National Diploma in Counselling program consists of 14 compulsory study modules that covers 30 credits. The diploma is equivalent to SLQF level 3 and NVQ level 5.

• Persuasive writing skills and narration of stories
• Presentation skills, negotiation and debating skills

• Art of formal and informal speech
• Written assignment on conducting research on a social issue and producing report

Certificate Course in Non-Linear Editing

Objectives

The objectives of the course are to provide basic knowledge and working experience in video editing.  After the completion of the course, each participant will be able to work as assistant editors where they will learn the intricacies of the trade under the guidance of a senior editor to become fully-fledged film and video editors. 

 Although the course is designed for newcomers it is also suitable for professional editors, producers, and production assistants with less experience and offers proper training to further their knowledge and expertise. There will be no assessment process for the course. A certificate of participation will be issued to those who attend 80% of the duration of the course.

Objectives

The objectives of the course are to provide basic knowledge and working experience related to camerawork. After the completion of the course, each participant will be able to work as an assistant camera person in a television crew. To constructively inculcate the art & science of choreography irrespective of the various dance traditions and create professional choreographers to the local theaters.

Brief introduction to the programme

The National Diploma in Choreography is a 14 months program which opens up a path way for aspiring  dancers to learn about the art of choreography or making dance. The syllabus covers many areas such as dance, ballet, opera, musical theatre, film, television and fashion shows. Introduction

The Higher National Diploma in Family Counseling course is designed to produce qualified and competent family counsellors for Sri Lanka, in order to meet the current requirements of the country in terms of psychological wellbeing of families and provision of counseling services.

This course will prepare participants to work as capable counselling practitioners in public and private sectors and with family client populations. Participants will study theoretical models, ethical aspects, and special issues relevant to their work as family counsellors. National Diploma in Counselling -  English 

Introduction 

The National Diploma in counseling is expected to provide a thorough basic knowledge in psychological counselling to become a professional in counselling and mental health sector. The diploma is specifically designed to provide the essential psychological knowledge needed to apply in the field of counselling and mental health. Thus, this will be recognized qualification to the Higher National Diploma in Counselling (HNDC) offered by SLF.

The Diploma program consists of 14 compulsory study modules that covers 30 credits. The diploma is equivalent to SLQF level 3 and NVQ level 5.

Course Content

Introduction to counselling and professional ethics, psychological and biological base for human behavior, emotions, thoughts and development, mental disorders, research, advance counselling skills needed to work with marginalized communities in the country such as victims of abuse, war, chronic illnesses and the psychosocial issues faced by LGBTQ and HIV infected community.
